Once you have started to master the basic serve technique you will be ready to move on to varying the serve with spin. Spin serves are most commonly used as second serves as they're easier to control which means they're more likely to go in. The spin may also fool your opponent and make it harder for them to return it even though it's a lot slower. Spin serves can also be used as a variation on first serve.
